In case you've been sleeping for the past seven days, Jamie Foxx is in London town and painting it a brightly coloured red. Foxx, star of 'Ray' and 'Collateral', celebrated the launch of his new album 'Unpredictable' in conjunction with the launch of Passionista, a new weekly night at Pangea in Mayfair.
Earlier that night, Foxx had performed live at Cafe de Paris and arrived at Pangea to tantalise the dressed-to-impress ladies and gentlemen with a few notes from his latest single release, the title track from his album. Sadly, that's all we got - a few notes. He must have been all sung out by the time he got to Pangea as the live performance we were promised didn't materialise. But hey, it's not everyday you get to be within arms length of an A-list celebrity and the R&B world's hottest property. Partygoers rubbed shoulders with other celebrities not so close to the beginning of the alphabet, including So Solid's Romeo, newly solo artist Simon Webbe, Mohammed George (Gus from Eastenders) and Lemar.
Foxx, dressed slickly in a cream blazer, black shirt and black trilby, came armed with his entourage, video camera and a rather bright light. He spent most of the time filming the crowd who had gathered around him to get a piece of the Oscar-winning action. However, Foxx had eyes for one woman only - the UK's Sugababe, Keisha Buchanan. Unfortunately for the 38-year-old, the sweet babe was not impressed and allegedly declined his offer of going back to his temporary home of the Grosvenor Hotel.
Jamie Foxx didn't arrive until way past midnight, but the Passionista DJs did a great job of hyping up the crowd. The DJs filled the plush nightclub venue with a little bit of this and a little bit of that. There was some electronica and a blend of classic and up-to-date hip hop, so bring your dancing shoes and a fat wallet, because the price of drinks at Pangaea lives up to its lavish surroundings!
Passionista is every Wednesday at Pangea, Mayfair, from 10pm-3am, £15 on the door. The night merges electronica with hip hop and will regularly feature DJ and live sets from the biggest names in both genres.
