If there was any doubt about the deteriorating state of 50 and Game’s relationship after their obvious farce of a peace-treaty in Harlem earlier in the year, this mixtape sets the record straight. The Game vs G-Unit is Fiddy’s biggest rap war since… well like since last month with Fat Joe and Jadakiss. But still, it’s big. Trust me. ‘You Know What It Is Volume 3’ is a collection of 22 mostly-exclusive tracks and comes courtesy of Nu Jerzy Devil and DJ Skee. Game wastes no time as the CD kicks off with ‘300 Bars and Runnin’: a 15 minute – give or take a few seconds – tirade of taunts, disses and piss-takes of everyone from 50 Cent and P-Unit (“Pussy ass n*ggas”) to his fellow adversaries over at the Roc-A-Fella headquarters – although he does make it clear that Jigga is exempt. Smart move. Olivia, the sole female member of G-Unot, doesn’t escape the lyrical onslaught either, with Game insisting – in the words of R. Kelly – that she’s a he. There’s a whole song dedicated to Olivia, and on ‘Play the Game’, Game spits, “Banks is a bitch/ 50 is a bitch/ Yayo is a bitch/ Buck is a bitch/ Olivia's a bitch,” before retracting his statement and adding, “…no, Olivia’s a man, haha. God damn.” God damn indeed. With Game rapping over the ‘Next Episode’ beat, this track is entertaining; it’s truth, it’s everything. Other highlights include the ‘Lil Bit’ remix and the aggressive ‘Poison Bananas’, which refers to 50 as “a chimp on steroids”. A chimp that’s ready to be greeted by some cold hard killers from Compton/Philly/Long Beach/LA. Here monkey, monkey… The song also features M.O.B, Game’s new supergroup. M.O.B (Money Over Bitches), which consists of Game, Eastwood (formerly of Death Row Records) and Techniec and they, alongside Cyssero, also appear on the hard-hitting ‘Why U Smell Like Dat’. Look out for M.O.B, ‘cause I’ve heard they’re set to make big moves very soon. Back to the review and to break up the ‘G-Unit suck’ pattern quickly forming, there’s the ‘Playas Only’ joint, ‘I’m A King’, featuring T.I., and the Justo Faison tribute. I thought ‘The Documentary’ was impressive enough, so it’s good to see that already Game has stepped up his flow and come with some even more inventive rhymes. While Game’s time with G-Unit may be over, I’m pretty confident this Compton rapper will be able to hold his own with his second album and all his other endeavours. He’s currently working on the ‘Black Wall Street: First Family’ mixtape, so look out for that and check for further updates on http://www.theblackwallstreet.com.
